Boat wraps
I'm looking at wrapping my 1995 Powerquest with a boat wrap. Anyone done this on their boat? Looking for feedback as to whether this is a good option, flaws, do's, don'ts, "if I had to do it over again" kind of thing. Seen it done at the St. Louis Boat Show. Roughly $2,500 to do a 27' Powerquest. Paint the better option?

i did my baja and it looked awesome, buy a lot of bumpers:lolhit: if i did it all over again and i am right now lol with my new boat, im painting! you just can't beat that shine!

I know. New paint is like a you know what, it's hard to beat.... Hard to spend that kind of cash on a 17 yr. old boat. Got steering issues that require $2k. I may go the wrap route for now. Look at upgrading 5 yrs. or so.

Take a look at speed on the water ------ they are showing a new Cig. fish boat that was wrapped , looks really good ... They did not say how much it was but has to be a lot cheaper than paint !!!!

No.
Wrap and flip, ok. Wrap and keep....forget it. Paint and good. Easy to sand and cover with new scheme. Wrap.... Peel.....and the longer it is on, the smaller the pieces you pull off get. Then...once off.... you need to invest in plastic razor blades, sunscreen and goof off. Count on one half hour per sq ft...not running ft. This is experience talking. Don't do it if you're keepinher... |
Way cheaper to wrap it and you can get something that looks badass for a fraction of painting it...I owned a 1994 Powerquest that was pink and teal...$2000 later(including professiona installation) this is what I had...

before andd after but i would still do paint, it does cost alot more but it look 1000% better.

Leave it stock or paint it. Wraps look OK from a distance.

like anything else..you get what you pay for...with good material, good printers and good gloss laminate, good instalation...they can look great....but there are tons of cheap jobs out there that make seem they are all bad...not true...there are just as many cobbed up paint jobs as well....and for 2500 wrapping a boat that size...you are not getting much....would not get much for a paint at that price either...so just keeping it real....
