Transom
I'm going to be redoing my transom to fit my new bravo and getting rid of my Volvo penta. What are some tips and recommendations that you all may have on when I get to certain steps in the process?
Thanks |
Best thing is to keep your progress and any thoughts or questions you have posted here along with pics if you can. Lots of talent and experiance on the board. Do you have any past experiance with fiberglass?

Are you ripping out the whole transom, or just filling the hole from the volvo?

1. lots of rum
2. tyvek suits are your friend 3. If your going thru good wood in the transom, take a skill saw and set the depth RIGHT, then make lots of horizontal and vertical cuts make 4 or 5 inch squares. then know the squares out with a good chisel. A lot easier and a lot less grinding. 4. When you clean up at the end of the day, take a COLD shower. A hot shower will open your pores and let the itchy scratchys in. 5. more rum. 6. find a friend who likes rum, get a BIG bottle and you will have help. |

I will be ripping out the whole transom. I'm not too good with computers so I have yet to figure how to post pictures on here. And yeah I think with the rum I might be able to bring some friends to the party haha

Did mine a few years back on the Pantera, not too bad, but I split the deck on mine since it had a splashwell for the outboard, yours should be able to be done in the bilge.

Hey c deezy, I checked your thread and that was a hell of a project you did on the entire boat! I wish I can do stuff like that especially with the cabin cause its still bare fiberglass cause I have yet to get around to it. I just started with a steady pay check a few months ago so hopefully that'll be my project for the following Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for that thread and the rest of the input from everyone
