Rustoleum and hardener question
I read were many people have used the rustoleum and valspar enamel hardener for painting there bilge. I'm in the process of doing the same, but can't source the valspar hardener any where other than online. I'm wondering if it has to be valspar or will any enamel hardener work?
Thanks |

Thanks I used a 10 dollar pint of "acrylic enamel hardener" from my paint store mixed about 8:1. Hard as glass after a day |
I found mine at my local "TSC" the ratio I used was one gallon or paint to one pint of hardener it hardened up fast!! I would probably do smaller portions maybe 1/2 that way you can second coat or just have extra. I wasted quite a bit because it hardened up over night in the can  should dry very hard & shiny!!

Thanks for the quick response. Now I can possibly paint today since I can get hardener from the paint shop.

Made the mistake one night of adding a half pint of mixed back to the 3/4 of a gallon I had left. The paint made a glob in the center of the rest of my paint, had to buy more :lolhit: A trick I saw on here was to use tin foil for masking cables and such that take too much time to remove or tape. I saw the trick after, but great idea! Good luck |
Thanks for the tip. I haven't seen that one yet. I will be sure to try that because I don't plan on removing all the hoses and wires.
