Repainting stripe

What is the proper procedure to repaint a stripe? What do you sand surface with and clean with to make sure wax is removed and surface is paint ready? If it matters previous stripe is imron and planning to repaint with imron.
Thanks

What grit you sand it with? Tim you happen to know the color code for the green Pantera uses? No not restoring already done just changing color of stripe.

When I had my Donzi repainted I stripped the boat and asked my painter what to use to scuff. He had me use a green Scotch Bright.

Imron? Sand with #320 or #400 and scuff with a red scotchbrite. You can use acetone or wax and grease remover to wipe it down. Then go over it with 70% alcohol to remove any residue from your fingers.

Watch out for static from rubbing on plastic (fiberglass). It happened to me once and caused fisheye looking spots all over the boat. I was told glass cleaner and paper towels just before paint removes the static. I've done two boats this way since and haven't had a problem.
