Donzi Transom
Looking at a mid 80s Donzi Z33 Crossbow. Beautiful looking boat.
The inner surface of the transom appears to be smoothed over in foam and textured with horizontal lines. It appears that maybe a temporary mold was placed against the transom and expanding foam was filled in because at the top, in the port and starboard corners, it looks like the foam overflowed over the top of a mold. The foam appears to then have been painted. Its really hard to tell what the heck is going on. Also, the inside of the engine compartment is covered in this crappy fake diamond plate stuff. Is all of this the way it came from the factory, or was somebody trying to decorate?. I would love to know, because I want to know what condition the transom is in. Can anybody tell me how the transom is constructed? Is it a few layers of plywood covering in fiberglass, or does the thickness vary? Thanks. |
we might want to move this to the fiberglass and paint section. I put an illustration in the other thread but if this gets moved to tech it will be easier to work with. do you have any pics?
welcome aboard by the way  |
