Marine store employee said this would work on my exhaust tails to seal them at the transom. The old stuff was black and pliable and the tails have some "give" when mounted. This looks to be the same. Is this a good idea or should I be using something else?

Also worth noting the tails are very close to the waterline on 32 Fevers...

You might want to use 4200,,good stuff

Both 4200 and the silicone will work. Just that the 4200 will be a Bich to remove if you have to.

Well after much debate and advice from everyone here we have officially decided to just run it this season and make the repairs in the winter. I know this project has the ability to steamroll into a much larger one very easily and we would miss out on summer if so.

I want to thank everyone for their comments and support to this point you all have been an incredible help as always and it is VERY MUCH appreciated!



That being said, since I have a heel size hole in my bulkhead what should I cover it with temporarily?

Before I ask this next question I want to preface it by saying that the center stringer and bulkhead will be repaired the correct way next season...but you had to see this coming lol... Is there something I can drill into the stringer and "fill" some sections of it with easily and temporarily to provide it some degree of additional support while running the boat this year? Just some extra security is my only idea here and maybe it's not needed who knows?

I took this picture when I had the drain plug out to check for rot and I noticed the small hole drilled in the center stringer. I didn't think much of it at the time since I poked at it and it seemed solid. Now that the boat has been sitting there has been a blackish brown liquid oozing out of it... this may be one (?) of the culprits for my stringer and bulkhead being rotten. I also have a rotten smaller stringer on the starboard next to the main stringer I found out. :( I don't know how it could spread that far forward and also to the smaller stringer from this location alone but I guess anything is possible when talking about water and wood. Nice to have that hole that was drilled there... I am assuming from a pilot hole for the drain plug. :angry-smiley-038:
