Black gelcoat
 

Got a nasty gash on nose this weekend loading. So, rounded surface obviously and then black in color in my case. Is black the hardest of them all to color match???

its not the color that can be the prob, its the blend that usually shows itself. Black is somewhat unforgiving in that it shows imperfections quite easily

What was I thinking when I bought a black boat whatever it was I will never make that mistake again.

If you have had to had black gel repaired, did it come out perfect? Before and after pics of other projects on internet look good, but that just online pics. My guy is really good, is there hope?

The answer is..... it depends. The more sun faded it is the harder to match but there are some very good guys out there so yes I think there is plenty of hope. I had a repair made and you can see it if the light is just right. Black is a tough one to match period.

ok, that helps as it is not sun faded. Garage kept, hadn't seen the sun since 2011, and being on the front tip leading up from the roller to the nose tip area, no exposure. I know I am basically crying out loud right now, but isn't that some of the joy of OSO? Ha! We get to hear others commiserate with us. Will post the outcome. I hauled it 225 miles to the very best guy I know, so that's all I could do.

Sold new from GSC. I really like Mark and his team there in Lake in the Hills.

I feel your pain!!!!!. Here are some pics the black on the 07 Baja's is like a dusky black its' a real pain in the butt to match. We are going to Lake Winnebago this year if you have been there let me know what you think of it. Pulling it to LOTO on 5/20 and out on Michigan some.

Thanks for listening to me cry all day Awash! You a cool cat....Never been on any lake north of Table Rock, except sea trial on Lake Michigan out of Racine. Have you had any of your black gel worked on? Outcome?

Man that ain't crying that's just owning a boat. Oh yea I have had some of the black fixed........... outcome was as expected :picard1: Did I mention I hate black.
