Trailer Paint
 

What should I use for trailer paint? I could cheap it and use rustoleum and hardener. Just dont think it will be as durable as an automotive paint. Is there a single stage metallic? Would like a silver or gray metallic.

I live in Ohio. My last trailer for my Pantera I had blasted then I did the prep and took it to MACCO. They did the whole thing in single stage for $150 with material.

It all depends what you wanna spend. With something like a rustoleum you have nearly the prep work as if you are sand blasting a trailer then priming the trailer then shooting the trailer. But to answer your question yes there will be a metallic silver at any auto paint store

Well, given I do not have a booth and I think a monkey could spray a trailer, I am going to prep it myself and go the Maaco route. Never even dawned on me before. By the time I run around and buy materials and screw around for a day masking and painting...for around $200 it will be done.

That is a good idea never even thought of that but did you worry about the sand getting in past the wheel bearing seals, brakes etc?? I don't have a sand blaster and I know if I take it someplace they will not be careful as I would be doing it!

I took it to the sand blaster. They blocked it up about 3 feet off the ground. I removed the wheels and bagged the hubs with multiple heavy garbage bags. Worked great. Did the same when I got it to Macco. They blocked it up and I removed the wheels and bagged the axels and springs which I hit with semi gloss black after it was done. The Macco paint job has held up well for 3 seasons now.
