I just looked into the sea dek, it looks nice and obviously ALOT easier to install. I like the idea of a soft surface. Can they make pieces larger than 39x77? Anyone have any pics of their floors?

Of all things I found some grey soft diamond plate patterned mat material fr garage floors... Feel like koozie material... I glued that down on my floor and its held up pretty well

Sea Dek is the route I am going from here on out even for headliners. I have a boat to rig over the winter and I am going this route plus its adds very little weight to the boat. You can get all different thickness of Sea Dek plus can get different colors and textures along with the look of teak.
Carpet and huge pieces of interior especially for side panels is out plus can add extra weight and sometimes a lot of extra weight. It is not a cheap product to buy, but either is custom carpet and interior. just saying BUP? Would you use it on a wood cockpit floor? I love everything about my boat except the fact that it has a wood floor. I had been thinking about laying a teak floor till I saw this post about Flex mold and now your post about Sea Dek. I am anxious to see what the consensuses is about the best thing to use. |
I would call the tech support on the wood floor installment to find out yes or no and what kind of warranty is covered for staying down. It works great on glass floors and swim platforms along with walk thrus plus I like it in the ski lockers as well. Nothing will get scratched that is stored in the lockers. Again you can get any thickness of Sea Dek. There is a couple of other players for this stuff and one that makes alot heavier grade material if needed.

I want to do something other than carpet in my cockpit area and found the gibco flex mold. Is this stuff hard to work with? I watched their videos and it doesn't look terribly hard but they are professionals. Is this something that can be done as a diy project? Im working over a entirely new floor of 3/4 ply, 2 layers of 1708 with VE.
