It's been a long time and I don't know what current rates are, but it is slow, labor intensive work for which most shops are terribly proud.

If you're doing the work yourself, while you're blueprinting the bottom, most of the area will be worked on anyway. The price difference on material is not that great. Just read up on prep and the additives (like wax) that need to be added to the gelcoat to make it harden or "kick" well so that it can be sanded with as little "gumminess" as possible. It's basically shot on thick but similar to paint in that you fade to the edge (I always taped and papered the edge for overspray) and once dry, sand and sand and sand and buff. You will hate yourself for starting this, shoulders and arms will be more tired than a 13 yo boy at camp, but in the end, it will be worth it.

Some folks my chime in here, but I never blueprinted the bottoms more than 5-8' from the back. If you have a hook or a rocker giving you issues, it's right there.

Clean it with Slimy Grimey and run it, starts to yellow, pull it and clean again.
