Bottom Paint
I have a Formula that has been bottom painted. I would like to remove it. I don't have the space to do it myself. Is there anyone/anyplace that does it in the lower New York area? Thanks!!! p.s. Does it all come off? Does it have to be resprayed to seal the gel-coat? I 've done searches, but all I get is guy's doing it themselves. I have to have it done.

its an arduous job for sure and will be tough to find a shop to do it. I have had some bottom paints just about fall off and others were tough as nails it really comes down to how it was prepped and what kind of bottom paint it is. What boat your 232?

Yeah, I don't know the prep work. Thanks for responding!!!

There's companies that travel around bead blasting off the bottom paint. Stop at your local marina and they should be able to give you some names

After they sand/bead blast the bottom. Is there another step needed to finish the bottom? How bad does it look after the Blasting?

I had bottom paint on one of my previous boat... not complicated to do but simply....
Sand, sand, sand again, sand some more, and again and... voila!!! Takes for ever! But very simple! Once i came off, i repainted the whole boat white, because the original bottom color was grey... and it was very nice looking!!! |
There's some good videos on YouTube
