Pxc385

I know everyone says use marine ply for the transom. Im really wanting to use composite and was wondering if the Pxc385 will do the job with Ve resin.

you will want something in the 24 to 28 pound density range. I've not yet used the Airex stuff but it looks similar to Coosa. i'm still not a big fan of composite transoms in larger high performance high hp powerboats but if your gonna do it at least hedge your bet and do three layers of half inch with a layer of 1700 inbetween each.

I've benn involved with three race boats with composite transoms, a 38 Fountain a 377 Talon and a 30 DW cat, all of them developed issues specifically related to them being composite. these were all race boats and were run pretty hard. In the real world composite transoms can be fine, i just dont like the added flex that . seems to shudder through composites sometimes they also dont handle repetitive compression cycling very well.

Appreciate the advice. I was more concerned with the extra thickness..
