patching stringer
 
hello looking for advice...and thank you
prior owner years ago , cut out a section,,,maybe 16 long ,,,maybe 12 tall or down , out of center stringer up in bow area,,well maybe 10 foot from bow for an ac unit.
unit didnt work, of cousre seller said it did,,anyway , want to fill this cut out.
of cousre going to cut sone matine plywood to start,,,then glass over it.
420 cloth...????
and west system 105????
open for suggestions

not knowing exactly what you are working with, I'd say 3 layers of 1708 with vinylester and your beyond good to go.

Yeah...there is obviously not an issue with that having to be a load-bearing structural piece...I guess? If it's been missing for this long, and nothing has broken, you're simply making a cosmetic repair and as phragle noted, pretty easily done.

cut out is 18 by 14,,,,,,,,,
yea maybe a waste of time...
this has been like this for 20 years or so,,i would think...
but wont take much to fix either...

It boggles the mind though that someone COULD think, "Hmmmm...this stringer isn't really necessary..." and cut it away!

hey bajaman,,,yea kind of wierd,,i know why they did it, they was an ac unit mounted in there. and sort of a wierd center stringer . it starts where u see it and forward in boat, note it start about 2 inchews thick then it goes down to one inch thick....there is about 5-6 inches under that flat board you see, but wierd. i am going to patch it up,,,cut some marine plywood , lay some glas over it,, painted it...then sell boat.....hahaha...just done working on this all the time,,,i have done a ton of work on this boat , basically rebuit it,,,motor stringer,,transom,,.
