Re: What paint to use

Take your time before you acquire any paint.
Also to be noted that many paints for what ever reason CANNOT BE USED BELOW THE WATER LINE AND WILL BLISTER!!!!
There are many new products out there to choose from.
There was a thread about the new Dragon Boat and they made some comments about a Sherman Williams product that they were using in the thread.
Do a few searches and post what you decide to do.
We are all curious.
Good Luck

Re: What paint to use

i usually stop at the hard chine. no paint on the running surfaces ever. if its somthing you are gonna keep i would try and preserve the gelcoat on the bottom. if its a trailered boat it is ok to have paint bellow the waterline on the sides only. hope this helps.

From what I've read, it's ok to paint below the waterline if the boat is not in the water for days on end. I reckon I'll find out, I painted the bottom of this boat with polyurethane.

I myself only paint race boats. Nothing that sit in water long. I do paint below water line, but there are some tricks to make it go fast. I have painted Tommy Bahama, WHM, Bourgett, and more this season.

Hey paintkahuna what are some of those tricks? I have the bottom of a 25 footer sanded and ready for paint. I'm going to use BASF Base-Clear coat.
