Last post on this thread was a year ago.

A guy in Rhode Island completely re-did a 1983 302 Formula a few years ago. He pulled all the 370/TRS stuff and cut the transom to fit a pair of eggbeaters. Re-did the cockpit in mahogany with maroon vinyl cushions. The race faring he came up with looks great. Boat runs excellent with a perfect, natural running angle. Balance and handling is far superior to the original boat. He's running 61 MPH on the GPS with full fuel and water and 4 full-size adults and I SWEAR HIS PROPS ARE RUNNING TOO LOW IN THE WATER!! Needs to move the 250 Yamahas up about 2 inches.

I'll post some pics if anybody's interested.

I think Jon is working on the boat with a plan of being able to actually use it in his retirement years

Griff it is a great plan. Think about it, when I get the boat done gas will be 20 cents a gallon cuz we will all be burning Hydrogen!! Now who is stupid!!!

You could use Plywood for the core, I wanted the thing to be as light as possible.

Jon,

Any finished pictures of the fairing to share?

I have a 30' scarab that I was thinking about doing the same thing to, I would love to stop by your shop and take a look at it in person, I live in NH but work in Boston, Think that would be a problem?

Nice job Though!

Thanks
Jim
