Well I dropped it in the water the other day to swap trailers. Unfortunatly my photo shop is not on this computer so I do not think this is going to look all that good. :( At any rate I am VERY happy with the way it looks in the water especially. :D:D

GLH 08-17-2003 09:29 PM

Get the fishing rod out of there it hides the interior finish, also nice "Evinrude" dude! I see the canvas came out finealso!!!:D:D:D

Well it has been a while since my last update. The fairing project was side lined as I had some MAJOR rot that needed to be taken care of :( :( Anyhow this pictrure shows more of the filler spread onto the inside of the fairing. This was done MONTHS ago.

The other day I removed the rub rail off the boat for paint. I liked the look so much that I think it is staying off.

This picture shows the new bulkheads installed. What I did was glass the bulkheads in and am now smoothing them out. These used to be covered in carpet and were one of the reasons that things rotted out.

I have been super bussy at work so I have been having my brothers shop ***** sanding away on the bow. I have been having him take off all the old gell coat. He is sanding tell he can see the glass poke through in a couple spots.

Another view of the bow with out the rub rail.

bryanspeedracer 05-04-2004 09:54 AM

Lots of progress. I kinda like the look of no rubrail, just like a Gladiators. Did you glass the void left behind?

Good luck.

Audiofn 05-04-2004 02:07 PM

Bryan: I did not remove the rubrail. I removed the deck rail. To remove the rubrail would be a job that I would NEVER tackle on a boat like this..... :D:D

donzi92 05-04-2004 06:04 PM

www.donzi.net

donzi92 05-04-2004 06:18 PM

Thanks, I will try that!!

bryanspeedracer 05-05-2004 12:21 PM

Oooh, sorry I misunderstood. I took a peek at mine as well. It looks like a real chore to get at all of the nuts. I was going to pull my bow rails and have them powder coated. That little project will have to wait for winter;)

Prater 05-05-2004 03:56 PM

I have not read all the posts so sorry if this is a duplicate...

Audiofn 05-05-2004 08:40 PM

Prater I doubt it would fit. I thought that some one wanted it but have not heard from them in a while. Let me see if I can get in touch with them and I will try and let ya know.

Do you have any current pictures of the finished project? Any reason that I could not core a fairing with marine ply? Thanks, Chris

Last post on this thread was a year ago.

A guy in Rhode Island completely re-did a 1983 302 Formula a few years ago. He pulled all the 370/TRS stuff and cut the transom to fit a pair of eggbeaters. Re-did the cockpit in mahogany with maroon vinyl cushions. The race faring he came up with looks great. Boat runs excellent with a perfect, natural running angle. Balance and handling is far superior to the original boat. He's running 61 MPH on the GPS with full fuel and water and 4 full-size adults and I SWEAR HIS PROPS ARE RUNNING TOO LOW IN THE WATER!! Needs to move the 250 Yamahas up about 2 inches.

I'll post some pics if anybody's interested.

The first post was 3 years and 9 months ago:eek::eek:

I think Jon is working on the boat with a plan of being able to actually use it in his retirement years:D:D:D

Audiofn 11-20-2007 03:25 PM

Griff it is a great plan. Think about it, when I get the boat done gas will be 20 cents a gallon cuz we will all be burning Hydrogen!! Now who is stupid!!! :D

You could use Plywood for the core, I wanted the thing to be as light as possible.

Jon,

Any finished pictures of the fairing to share?

I have a 30' scarab that I was thinking about doing the same thing to, I would love to stop by your shop and take a look at it in person, I live in NH but work in Boston, Think that would be a problem?

Nice job Though!

Thanks
Jim

glassdave 01-29-2008 10:08 AM

Jon

Jon,

Last week came and went and I didn't hear from you, I was actually replacing my sewer pump anyway so I was pretty busy. I leave Wednesday for the Miami Boat show. Maybe we can set something up for next week or the week after.

Jim

Audiofn 02-11-2008 05:58 PM

Give me a call when you get back. This week is tough I have a system that went down and we can not get it back up and running. I have the company coming on site to try and figure it out.
