You can make your own with some heavy paper, just tape in place push where the mounting holes are with some chalk on your finger cut edges to shape and its done. Put it in place 3/4" above the runing surface, mark your hole locations. Then you need to drill the holes at 90 in all directions on the transom. To do that, use a 6" x 6" sq flat pc of 3/4" ply screw a blk iron floor flange to it, tread in a 6" long 3/8" gas pipe at 90 to the block. Use a 24" long 3/8" drill, hold the block flat against the transom, and you have a hole guide at 90 in all directions with no drill press. If yor centers are on the money the studs on the K-plane slide right through the transom thickness for back washers and nuts. Worked for me!

Here is the pic, it worked great for me all the studs went in like butter, every hole was at 90 and the template I made off the part was easy and the hole centers where money.

Magnum27 has had to learn the hard way when it comes to doing work on his magnum. I have seen the pics of the boat and so far he has done a wonderful job on it. I rig boats for a living and even I would'nt attempt to do some of the work hes done. When he does complete the magnum it will be one of the finest magnums around. Congrat to Magnum27

Thats a really slick idea. I couldn't visualize the description given earlier. I've made that mistake before drilling on one side and it comes out Arss crocked on the other. Fortunately it wasn't on the boat.

MOBILEMERCMAN.........Thanks again for templates. Tabs are on..it was stilll pain in the azzzzz with the hydraulic tubes. Couldn't remove them without risk of damage. But I got em in.

Transom is 4" thick and of course tubes are 3". So I had to also get creative wuith the tubes , bolts and custom backing plates I made.

I can hardly wait to put the hydraulic lines on. I'm sure this will be fun

Nice, are you planning to run a ground wire to everything?

Enforcer2 02-20-2008 09:09 PM
