Default Sticky trim sender

I have Merc Racing mechanical trim senders on my Bravo 1 drives. One is sticky. I have lubed the cables and cleaned the stainless tube and plastic plunger, but one is still sticky. As I trim out it sticks with about one inch to go. If I tap on it, it will move, but I can't get my wife to lean over the transom at 70 to tap on it...go figure...so I guess I need to make it work. Any ideas? Should I use some type of lube/greese on the plunger and stainless tube? I hate to have any exposed greese on the boat because it "will" find its way onto the upholstry.

Three thoughts.
One, It may be from a sharp bend somewhere in the boat.
Two, It is likely that enough stuff has accumulated in the cable that it needs to be replaced. I suggest you change them all and use supreme cables. The effort to change them all is not that much more then to change just one.
Three, don't grease the end it only prevents the water from getting out

Default Thanks Jim

After looking at the cables harder and working with them decided to change them. The boat is a '99 so I think they are just worn to much to slide free. I also agree that grease is not a good idea for many reasons. What do you think about Teleflex TFXtreme cables? Is there others that you would use? Thanks again for the help.
