I'm doing the same project, I'm just not racing. I'm replacing the engine hatch and back seat with plastic sheeting about 1/2 in. thick. lighter, and you don't have to worry about rot. There are many places to go, but I'm going through Midland Plastics. They can bend, cut and form any plastic to your order. Just a heads up, and my .02 cents...:D

Those are the original race hatches. I needed them to be able to be walked upon so they were reinforced quite heavily. It probably wouldn't be too tough to take the 3/4" plywood coring out of them and glass back in the X reinforcements under the raised portions.

Thanks- Recomendations Anyone?

Since some of the ply is bad, I hadn't thought about gutting the existing hatch and re-framing.

I too need to stand on it.

I will have a mix of old school and new. Should I keep old race hatch look or go to a flat hatch with dual scoops?
