Benefits of a superchiller

I have a 27ft Excalibur flatdeck with a supercharged 454. I have heard that a superchiller will benefit me greatly because the bottom half of my motor is still bone stock. My supercharger is a 177 wieand is this a good idea to do or is there other routes I can take to get more horsepower.

There are a lot of threads about the mini blowers and chillers on here, search and read. In a nutshell, the benefit of having a chiller is so you can increase boost and not have detonation while running high octane pump gas. I run a chiller with a weiand 177 with the small 2.85 pulley and have no problems. Be aware those little blowers have their limits, but its better than NOT having a blower if thats what you are in to.

I do beleive that is the same set up that I have. I got the boat from my boss that is also a really good friend of mine. I will ask more details monday mornin and get back. Thanks for the help, Shawn

The boat is also new to me and I've yet to run it in the water but have been on it several times. The set up was ordered new from jegs with a holley carb and dyno tested at 500hp with the stock bottom half just as I have

Are you talking about this one?

If so, forget it. It's really not for big boost.

Also, if you want one they aint cheap.

As for your stock bottom end, a chiller helps to make more power by making the incoming air denser. Dense air means you can add more fuel and boost. This will just add more stress to your bottom end.

Anytime you can cool the intake charge the egts will come down. This should increase engine life and HP. Less egts the more boost you can run if the bottom end is built for the increased HP. If the blower is at max CFMs it may decrease power because of the extra pressure drop. Good Luck.

Thats what I was expecting to spend and was wondering if there is something else I could do before I spent the money for the chiller. What could I get more bang for my buck with. Thanks again for the info guys. And yes hat is the blower I have. 177 weiand with the holley carb.
