That is some cool stuff Jeff. The nice thing however with the Merc stuff is that you can integrate it into your GPS system for one display for your guages and GPS. While this is certainly a step in that direction I think that they are not doing that, or am I missing something? It would also be nice to have it as the same "standard" as the Merc Smartcraft so that you can still use the analog read outs like Gaffrig makes.

They do have a GPS input as well. One problem I was considering was, how the visibility of the dash is in the sunlight. The data logging would be nice too. Unfortunately it would have to separate from the Merc stuff. I may be getting a little off track but MSD sells the stand alone Mefi4 with software so you can do your tuning as well.

Jeff I am not saying GPS into tha unit. I am saying that unit giving info to the GPS. You can then show your Tach, Fuel, temp and so on on your GPS screen.

Gotcha, There are so many different options out there today.
It's easy to wind up with a bunch of stuff that does the same thing but not quite. It's like having a coffee table full of remotes!

What do you want to know? It works just depends on what info you want and were you want it to go. Takes some time to get the bugs worked out but does work quite nice.

Does that mean you have a functioning unit? What are you displaying for info? what screen(s) did you use? Cost?

I wanted to use smartcraft gauges with non smartcraft engines. How did you do it? Are there any products from any manufacturers?

I have a unit that I have functioning on a bench. The boat is just the next step but there is no reason that it will not work well. What you can display depends on what you are using for your display. Each GPS unit is different. If you go with a specialized display then you can display just about anything you want even have touch screen stuff to turn on lights, bilge pumps and so on.
