Let me know what you think! and yes they are based off the Martini Victory trim tabs, cuz i like that design so much :-D

DKerns 03-02-2008 09:00 PM

They look good. Keep us posted.

J-Bonz 03-02-2008 09:01 PM

Cool Project.

Griff 03-02-2008 10:37 PM

Can't really tell how big they are in the pics. If they are 280 ish size, I think you are going to need more reinforcement.

jlaudio29 03-02-2008 11:10 PM

will post more pics once the updates occur

Griff - they are 12 wide by 15inch long tapered down to 8 inchs.

jlaudio29 03-03-2008 07:01 PM

Got the other one made and the hinges on today, called about getting a wholesale account at the place im going to get my actuators at, and that is all taken care of, so hopefully in a week or two ill have the rams and get the upper mounts made and get these bad boys on the boat!... ohh and ofcoarse have them powdercoated black.

scarabfun 03-03-2008 07:20 PM

you may want to weld a lip on them around the top because i think if u don't they will bend. otherwise look'n good. what are u useing for the ram?

jlaudio29 03-03-2008 07:47 PM

Going to go with electric, cheaper and slightly easier to install, the rams are from Lectrotab same ones in the pic im about to post, as well the tabs i made are based off this design, going to test them out when i get them on the boat and see if they bend.. if they do ohh well it dosnt take long to make these things if i had to remake/alter them.

Looking good.
You going to add provision for trim cable or is that done within the ram itself?

Elite Marine 03-03-2008 08:59 PM

What gage/thickness SS did you use?

jlaudio29 03-03-2008 09:20 PM

Fountain - not following what your asking? (long day at both my jobs today +extra time make these today)

the metal is 10 gauge / 1/8th inch thick SS

Griff 03-03-2008 10:54 PM

You should be good with them. They are not as long as they look in the pics and I would think they should be strong enough.

I think what US1 was talking about is using a mechanical indicator cable so you can see the actual tab position at the dash.

jlaudio29 03-04-2008 12:35 PM

thats what i thought he was tying to say but i wasnt positive.

i was thinking about going with this setup

http://www.lectrotab.com/SETRManual&QuickCombined.pdf

for the control/ trim indicators, but im still looking into other avenues as well.

H2OWRENCH 03-04-2008 08:33 PM

My hats off to you. Love to see personal pride in fabrication, if it done right. so far so good. Post pics after coating.

Yes.

Those LEDs look nice and compact and get you in the ball park, but might be a little harder to do the more precise tab adjusting. But then I usually go more by feel than by the indicators myself.

jlaudio29 03-04-2008 09:45 PM

yah i was thinking it would be sorta a feel thing too, just use the indicators incase im cruising in now wake for a while and cant remeber where i had my tabs last

jlaudio29 03-04-2008 09:46 PM

h20 thanks a bunch, i definatly take pride in everything i fabricate, i dont like to toot my own horn but im pretty damn good at it.. had an offer to be on Monster garage when tha show was on the air.

Looks like one of these. It's a basic cable clamp used on carb brackets. You can get one from just about any supplier.
