What holds the dogbones down on the factory Gen VI roller motor?

The GM performance lifter package comes with the dogbones and a flat steel (ss?) plate, does the plate hold these down?

Or is the lifter such that you place the dog bone down on the block and then drop the lifter through it and the top of the lifter has a round area that will not fit through the dog bone?

There's a spring plate in the lifter gallery- has 16 little metal fingers that hold them down

That is what I thought. So there are raised bosses in the lifter valley that this plate bolts down to. Would you happen to know if the Dart big M has these bosses? I have a new bare block and used Comp lifters on the one 540 I built (with 731 cam) and the lifters leak down between Sunday night and Saturday morning so much so that before adding the Pre-lube pump that I though the engine was coming apart on fire up until the lifters pumped up.

I always start the engine against closed silent choice so I can hear the mechanicals inside for unusual sounds. Three to five seconds of cam lobe slamming into non pumped up roller is un-nerving, once oil pressure builds then all is OK.

Nickerson carb set up allows engine to fire within 1/4 rev.

Pre-luber eliminates this problem.

I've got 2 hold down plates, 2 sets of stock roller lifters and all the dog bones to hold them in place. The stock lifters will work with the 731 cams, just need correct length pushrods.

I might have a set of push rods as well. PM me if any body is interested.

I was told over 570 lift requires a long travel aftermarket lifter is this so or will my factory lifters work on 590 lift?

I ran stock lifters with a Crane 731 cam. 587 intake and 610 ex. They worked for 3 seasons then I built bigger motors.

how many rpm did your motors turn with that cam?

alright, i went with a mild comp 270 xm cam during my build put used manifolds on, am pulling the motor to clean up things with my new manifolds going on and wanted to go with a bigger cam, but did not want to spend money for new lifters, now i just need a 731 cam.

You will also need new pushrods as well. When you change cams you change the dimensional relationship. Let me check my parts bin, as I had to buy new pushrods when I built my new motors. I'll check in the next day or two.
