Best place for oil temp sensor, 96 502 mpi?

Looking for the best place to put the oil temp sensor. I now installed a oil thermostat. Wasn't sure if i should put the sensor in the pan, or up by the filter mount. If i do the pan, i'll have to time with an oil change, which would be more of a pain in the ass. If up on the mount, should be easier.....

The pan is the best place. It will give you the highest temp reading which is what you want to know. The sensor needs to be immersed in the oil for the most accurate readings.

If you mount it in the pan, how do you plan to do it? I couldn't find a fitting to allow the oil pan plug hole to utilize the 1/8" NPT that most oil temp sensors use ...m
