changing to 1 wire alt's
 
how can i change over to 1 wire alt's, ive got 3 wire one now,,somebody told me just to use the red power wire and tape the ohther 2 in the harness,is this right?

If you are changing to the Delco unit don't do it, the rear bearing is a needle not a roller they are noisy and blow apart. Just my .02

Take you alternator to a shop that rebuilds them, most places have one locally, and have them put in a SE (Self Energizing) diode. Then you will not need the field connections, it will field itself. I have done this many times, and it is very inexpensive.
