Side exit...? Where can i get em?
Hey guys im throwin my 454 into my eclipse and im just wondering which exhaust set up im gonna do...
Im either gonna go under the swim platform or im gonna go out the side. I would really like to go out the side, i would like to get these exhaust tips. I know they are made by corsa. However i do not know where i can buy them from. heres a picture of them http://boatstoreonline.com/images/11519-C.JPG You guys have any clue? I appreciate any help Thanks, Chuck |
Is that a Wellcraft eclipse 232??? If you can get it under the platform, or out the side in that tight engine compartment, then you are a better man than me, I had to go over the platform in mine, as well as in a Wellcraft Concept 23 that I did.

Haha yea...if i can find these corsa exhaust tips cheap enough id like to go out the side...
it might take some time and work but itll get done haha. Im making the exhaust pipes out of 4" fiberglass so If i cant get em cheap enough ill make an s pipe out of fiberglass and go under the swim platform with a normal pair of exhaust tips...but id like to go out the side |
Exhaust pipes need to be metal. What happens when you loose an impeller and the fiberglass pipes melt and catch fire????

I just bought a pair from Keith Eikert. they dont have it listed but were able to get me a pair

If you dont mind me asking, what did you end up payin for em? Ive found one other place for around $700, but they dont know if they can get them....

I run Rex marine flush mount exhaust tips all I can tell you they are way loud in and out of the boat. I can barely hear the stereo when cruising at 38-4000 rpm and it has a 400 watt amp. I tried running mufflers (inline) and my wife made me remove them.
|
The mufflers didnt help at all? Or did your wife just like it that loud? haha

Those look pretty sick, sure would make it hard to get in and work on the engine though. Probably loud as hell too.
|
My wife likes it loud. Everytime I take the boat some place they say how loud it is. It is not quite as loud since I have changed the firing order on the cam. I would say the cackle is gone somewhat.
|
What mufflers did you run?
|
I ran the inline muffler kind of like a baffle, it fit into the 4in exhaust hose cost around 100.00. my wife likes it loud, my friend put the same set up his baja to keep the water from coming into the engine when stopping and it will wake the dead he made a pass by me on Sunday at 92mph gps in a 21ft baja at 6000 and you know he is coming and going.

A friend and I put side exhaust on an old boat I had, and wow, extremely loud!! It had a 350 in it, but people would always ask what it was. You should have seen the jaws drop when I told them it was just a 350!!! I bought the tips on e-bay for something like $100, 4" SS tips. I then bought the Trident Rubber Exhaust Hose. We disconnected the 90* turndowns and turned them sideways, went 4" lower then where they came out of the risers. The turndowns are like a 3 1/2" but the 4" hose will clamp down on them. We plugged the Y pipe with some plumbers fittings from Home Depot. Homemade jobber for less than $225! Took about 3 hours to do. The worst of it was taking a 4" hole saw to the side of the boat right at the waterline!!

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but I'm not a fan of the sound of side exhaust at idle. From the shore, you only hear one bank of cylinders and it sounds -well- weird to me. Not as noticeable up and running, but man at idle.... I'm not a fan.

I ran the inline silencers 410-285400 they would quite it down nicely
