1996 bravo y-pipe flappers
I need to replace the shutters in the y-pipe for the thru prop exhaust. I'd be damned if i can even find the y-pipe on the parts look up on the BAM website. Anyone help me out with either a p/n or help on where to find it on the parts diagrams. 1996 502mpi. w/ bravo.

I believe is the part # |
yup, thanks guys........

Well, i got these, ended up not being correct. They are bigger than my y-pipe opening, plus, the holes are round, and dont use the little square holders on the end. Back to the drawing board.

I can not find the " exhaust system" as you pulled up anywhere.

I don't find anything labeled as exhaust system for my motor. Also, the shutters in that link are not the ones i have. I pulled apart the starboard side last night. Wasn't anything there at at, but there were to little holes front and back of the y-pipe. There is definately no spot for the rectangular rubber plugs. Looks like it's made for a round shaft? This has the impco power plus manifolds, and diverters. The y-pipe wouldn't be theirs as well would it?

That picture look like the old style flappers. When I replaced mine (same as pic) the new didn't use rubber plugs, but a holder that snapped into the holes in the y-pipe.
|
Yeah, the part that i got looks exaclty the same as the picture. But the holes in my y-pipe are small, like 1/8 inch holes. There wouldn't be any use for the rectangular rubber plugs. Also, the shaft that these shutters are on is also rectangular, not round like the holes in my y-pipe.

The 502's and 454 Magnums were not sold by Merc with a Y pipe as standard. That's why it's not shown. Take a look at a 7.4 from that year
[http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...%2E4L+BRAVO%29 Fountain has it - Sounds like you have the old style (#11) if you click on the part number you can see a photo of the current replacement. |
yup, that's what i have. I just ordered the older p/n from a local shop. I see the new part is probably the way to go though. I already have the 807166a-1 flaps, and they are huge. Not sure how they are supposed to seal, they are bigger than my pipe is. Only thing i can see is they seal against the plastic frame pieces.

Ok, i get it now, i'll get those. Thanks for the help guys.
