What material to use for cabinet??

I need some help with this!!
I want to remove one of my couches and replace it with a cabinet topped with some sort of counter top along with a sink.
Anybody know what type of material would be the easiest to work with and finish?
Can plywood be painted to withstand the peeling and blistering?
I'm lost on what to use...

i would use standard B/C plywood, (put the B side out) prime it and paint it or cover it with formica.... or vinyl to match your interior. good luck.

Whatever you use, try to make the total weight similar to the couch you are removing, dont want to upset the balance.

A lot of manufactures use "StarBoard" it's a plastic that can be cut/molded using regular woodworking tools.
