Trim ram pin stuck!! Help!

Picked up a used TRS last week. It still had the tie bar saddle on it and the pin. Problem is pin is stuck. Tried handheld propane torch to heat it, and a 3lb sledge, nothing. Stepped up to acetelyn torches, heated, whacked the crap out of it, got it to move about 3". This is ridiculous. Any other ideas? Is it better to heat the pin itself, or the drive housing? Hydraulic press? Drill?

Heat the pin. The Alluminum will disipate the heat quickly. That is how I have had the best luck. I also spray PB Blast and let it cool a few times. My theory anyhow is that as it cools it will draw in the lube.

I had the same problem and posted a thread with the exact same title!

If you've gotten it to move, grab it with a big-ass pipe wrench and twist it while pulling / hitting it out. Once you've exposed a bit more, sand / file the area you've exposed and knock it back through the other way, then grab that side with the pipe wrench, twist and slide it out. You may need to repeat this from side to side. While you are, liberal application of WD40 all over the rod before you slide it back in.

If you heat the pin, it expands in the hole and sticks even more. Brute force works a treat.

After heating the crap out of it, pounding with the sledge, still nothing. Took a 1/4" drill bit, drilled thru the center of the pin, all the way thru it(after cutting the ends off). One blow with the hammer, and it popped right out. :drink:
