Gen V torque specs
As I hunt the web I am coming up with all kinds of answers. Some up to 20lbs difference in torques. Main caps have answers are from 90 top 110lbs, rods from 50 to 70lbs, etc, etc. I need the torque spec for a Mercruiser, Gen V, 454. Rod, mains, heads, etc, etc.
Any help? |
It all depends on the manufacturer of the fastener. (ie. bolt or stud) Tourque specs of a bolt is determined by the tensile elasticity of the material the fastener is made from. It is as tight as a bolt can be stretched without losing elasticity. If stretched anymore than the given specification the bolt will keep its elongation and lose clamping force.
I just used new ARP's and their recomendations. |
most iv see just use oil,and the factory manual said oil,if ya use arp and moly use there spec
