The Mark IV 396/402, and 427 engines were internally balanced (3.76" stroke). Maybe the truck 366 BBC as well, but the 4" stroke BBC were all externally balanced (454, 502, 496).

I had this happen once with a 502 that was a spare engine that I bought from a guy who new nothing about it and I bolted with the ext. balanced accs. to get me through a season and I had to pull everything back apart, R & R. It wasn't a real fun time considering I only had about 3 weeks of boating left. It was stupid on my behalf however was in a rush. |
I was looking at balancers and flywheels, there where listings for internally balanced BB, I didnt think that someone may have a internally balanced rotating assy.
