I have 2 blue top optimas. Last year I ran 2 speakers and 1 sub off of it for like 8 hours at a time and never even died out...Beauty is I have a seperate battery just for starting my motors then I hit the swtich over to charge up when I am running. I usually put it on a battery charger every night and let it trickle charge all night friday and saturday.

What kind of charging system do you have and how many house batteries are you running?

i run 4 batteries, 2 house battries, and one starting battery for each engine... and i also just added a power supply that feeds the audio system a constant 13.6v when i have the generator running, and charges the house battries. And while the gen is running the factory charges the other battries.

Well since we don't know more about the system other than you are getting a set of components and a couple subs, I will make the suggestions that I can.

With what you plan to install now I would put the components behind the bolsters. Just because you will probably listen to them more from the rear bench sunpad area than in front of the bolsters. Getting the tweeters up high as possible is a must, the mids can be lower but higher is better. I looks to me like you have plenty of room in front of the bolster to mount speakers, can't see what you have behind them.

You would be suprised what kind of sound you can get out of a fairly small system. I have 2 sets of 6.5" components and 3 12" subs in my system. Powered by older Autotek amplifiers. I have three amps in the system for a total of 209 watts. One amp drives the tweeters, one for the mids, and one for the subs. Taking the cap coil crossovers out of the system and going electronic adds alot of control to the system, and a boost in power. You may say 209 watts does not sound like alot of power, but I can run wide open and hear the system plain as day.

Don't count on the boat's alternator to charge deep-cycle batteries.....

kyb, here are some pics of where my speakers are on my 32 AT. Not sure how similar your cockpit interior is. The speakers are DC Gold 7"s and they are exactly the same size as JL 770's. I also have 2 6x9's under the rear bench. The holes were already there for them and subs would not have worked there for me because of the depth and other stuff already there. The subs are 10" Alpine Marine Free airs and mounted in the gunwales in front of the bolsters. They just barely fit depth wise.
