Trim tabs

Was looking all over online the other day. Noticed that the folded edges (wings) of most tabs were facing down. Mine are facing up. Is this correct, or doesnt it matter ? Some say the folds are for strength only, and its ok either way...others say they dig in better if they are pointing down. Any ideas ?Thanks.

What kind of tabs are they? If they are bennets then they are probably installed upside down. The wings create colume of water that helps lift the stearn out of the water.

Do you have a pic of how they are installed?

Dont think you can install a bennett upside dow, it is held into the hinge with a small lip, if you turned the plate upside down I dont think it would engage.

Here are my Bennetts. You cant mount them the other way the bracket that the actuators attach to are only on the one side.

I have a picture if you are interested.

I upgraded my from a none winged side that had bent to a longer with the sides.

The bend keeps them from flexing. More so important on longer tabs. Even a small crease increases the rigidity of flat stock considerably. Ever notice the 'X' bent into your furnaces ductwork? ;)
