Just wondering if any of the guys recommending oils have torn down their own engines or build their own engines. I build all my own stuff. Mobil One is great stuff but for as often we change oil in our boats I think it's a little pricey. I have always used Castrol 20-50 with great results.

Is anybody elase having a hard time finding Mobil 1 15-50 in the 5 qts jugs. It seems Walmart has stopped carrying it around here and at LOTO???? The 5 qt jugs were the original formula and the price was about $23. I really do not want to have to go to buying single quarts since the price would be about 50% more. I also think it might be hard to find in the original formula.

Does anyone use Brad Penn / Kendall?

I am in the process of rebuilding my 502. It should be slightly over factory HP. Nothing crazy.
My engine builder reccomended Brad Penn oil. He is very good, so that is what i think I am going to go with. |

Brad Penn Oil
We use and recommend Brad Penn 20W50 High Performance Oil. Its designed to offer higher performance engines the cold temperature operational benefits of an SAE 20W engine oil while providing the desired film strength; sealing abilities, bearing, crankshaft, piston ring and valvetrain component anti-wear protection of an SAE 50W oil at normal engine operating temperatures.

I went with castrol 15-40 in mine, I think it should be fine? Just changed it for first time since buying this boat, Everyone has so many opinions. I guess the merc oil is like 20-40 so I figured this was pretty close.
