I use a marine head unit only because I can then use a wired remote. Other than that don't waste a dime on marine speakers. If you look at the JL Audio Marine sub and compare it to the "car" version you will quickly see that the marine version is junk. Power handling is only around 150 watts, the magnets are small but you do get a nice white grill. Just stay away from paper cones and you'll be fine. I'm one of the few on here that will try to steer you away from JL Audio. Nothing wrong with them other than the price they charge. Look at Boston Acoustics. In my opinion they're better and less money. I'm using the G5 subs in my boat and they are louder and cleaner than a JL W6 and will distroy any "marine" sub. Boston doesn't make the G5 anymore but the G3 is very close and you can get them cheap if you look. Same goes for the coax or seperates. Look at the various Boston Acoustics speakers. Good luck and have fun!

Alpine does make a waterproof wireless remote! However I have both and I prefer the wired remote 10 fold! It works faster and I have a display in front of me that tells me whats up.

Not really. You have a data cord and a 1/8" phono cord for power... Its as simple as it gets. The upper right corner of the dash picture is the remote. I can be flying over waves and adjust anything quickly and easily. Not gonna happen with a tiny, slow, wireless remote.
