Backflushing 500EFI cooling system

This is the first boat I've owned w/o sea strainers and one of the rivers I boat in is LOADED with trash/hydrilla. I used to clean my last boats sea strainers after each trip here and they'd be loaded with grass/shells/pebbles, etc. Today on the way in I ran across a patch of grass and noticed the water pressure dropped a bit. It's 3-5 psi from where it normally is, and it seems as though that motor is running a little warmer on water/oil temp (maybe ten degrees). Either way, where and how should I disconnect the cooler hoses to backflush? Is the oil cooler the first "stop", or will grass/trash make it past this cooler? I'm a big guy, and not trying to take the entire boat apart to do this.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Most everything except sand will stop at the oil cooler.
