fuel guage Q
my fuel guage decided to quit on me. i checked all connections from the guage back to the sending unit and cleaned them with contact cleaner. they all looked good before the cleaning. what should be my next step in fixing the problem? is there a way to check to see if it is the sending unit or the guage with a multimeter? if so what would be the process? should i just pull the sending unit and check to see if it is just stuck? thanks for any help.

there are three wires on the gauge, 1. purple (12v) 2. black(grnd) and 3. pink(sender) there may also be blue for illumination. anyway check w/ testlight or voltmeter. testlight ground to blk terminal, then tip of test light to purple (should light w/ key on.) if ok jumper blk terminal to sender terminal ( pretty sure its pink) w/ key on and jumped gauge should read full. if not gauge is bad. if ok then jumper sending unit wire to ground - should be same result. if no test light on 1st step find bad ground or 12v
