Default Gen V 502 oil cooler upgrade

I'm not sure the size of the oil cooler now in my 95 502 mpi, but i'd like to step up to the next size. Anyone know exactly what is the next step up that will fit in the same location? I've looked at CP's site, but not sure what size to get for the combo oil and power steering cooler. The sizes look to be the same as what I have now................Don't know how they would lowwer oil temps?

Forget about running a bigger cooler the one you have now will do just fine.... Switch to Mobil 1 15w -50 and you will be fine!!

I'm not running stock horsepower, i'm about 500HP. Running 20W-50 Brad Penn semi synth the oil temps will get as high as 250 degrees on long wide open runs. Cruising at 3500 will stay at 195-212 all day. I have an oil thermostat at 212 degrees. I'd like to get a cooler capable of keeping the temps at or close to the 212 on the wide open pulls. So back to the orginal question about the cooler upgrade.......

ya might try and find a take off off a 500efi 500hp,but youll have to re do the set up.hose etc.

I think Hardin/CP or Eddie marine,Rex make a stock style larger than stock.

I use the 3" EMI combo cooler, CP/Hardin and others have a good one also. The oil part is about 18" long and the ps is about 4". I have been using mine for about 5 years.

I have good luck with mine from Mr. Cool. it looks exactly like a hardin. I mean exactly. My oil temps are steady and the cooler was like $100 cheaper. I think he advertises here on OSO.

Mr. Cool hooked me up on my 2 - 3"x18" cooler and saved me about $270 on the pair compered to others.

Mine is bigger than stock. I am not sure of its size but i know that the internals are different. i think there is more cooling tubes in a high performanced cooler. but im not certain. i can tell you that i am happy with my thermostatically controlled cooler from Mr. Cool. and they are great to deal with.
