bravo III

I have recently discovered a ticking noise in Bravo III outdrive. It sounds like a metalic tick and you can also feel it if you touch the outside of the outdrive. This is a new noise. I does it in neutral and in gear. Any Ideas?

I would check the simple stuff first. Pull the drive and inspect the u-joints for wear. While you have the drive off, put your hand up into the bell housing and spin the gimbal bearing with a couple of fingers. Make sure it spins nice and smooth. If all that checks out then the drive might need to be torn down and inspect.

broke a tooth in the upper,,, a universal that is bad will give you more of a vibration,,,, take it apart or drain the fluid to see if its full of metal

I am good with a wrench but I have never pullled the outdrive off myself. How difficult is it. I also need to replace the trim position sensor and I believe I need to pull the outdrive to accomplish this.

If it is anything like a bravo 1 you can pull it in about 5 minutes with 1 stong back and one person to make sure shift cable comes out and does not get caught in linkage

It's exactly the same as the B 1, but it wieghs quite a bit more. With props, over 200 lbs. It's doable with one person, but two will save your back.
