Stripping Gil Manifolds

Has anyone stripped the black coating off of Gil manifolds?
Its like a plastic coating not paint.

I believe it is either e-coat or powder coat. You probably need to sand blast it to get it off. I don't think traditional strippers work in peeling it off.

Done it before years ago you are best off sandblasting the bad spots and than DAing and feathering them into the good coating that is left and paint from there.Trying to sandblast them completely bare would be a ton of work and a waste of time. What is stuck good and looks good simply rough up with some 220 and spray over the coating. The bare spots prime with Zinc Oxide Chromate and go a little heavy on the acid to promote adhesion to the aluminum and than paint over that and you should be good to go.
