Just a another story of a engine,

It's not really a "Do It Yourself" but I may need some advices...

2006 First started out as a crate engine GM ZZ572/620hp in box.
My friend Johnny who is a great engineer
Did the marine conversion, head job with Inconel valves and some other updates.
Added a Holley 1000cfm carb, 14q oilpan and high vol pump from Hardin Marine, CMI Sport Tubes and MSD Ignition.
631,4hp@5400rpm in dyno. Pretty common on a ZZ572 I think.
Also added Marine alternator and starter. Bravo coupler and mounted the engine in my 28 Pantera Race. The boat did 80mph in rough. On flat water mid to upper 70. Sold the boat less engine same year.

step 2

2007, Since I already had a new bare hull, a 28 Arrow, we wanted to put the 572 in it. But with some
modifications . New Venolia piston to lower the compression, new timing chain, refresh the heads, new mains etc.
Added a 2.6L screw from Swedish Autorotor, a modded Super Chiller, a modded EFI-intake, Aussie Autronic SM4 fuel injection, found a new set of strange looking CMI headers really low style with the shortest tail pipes out there… We also did a very nice system with a surge tank…
The foot throttled boat handled really well and I never see any speeds above 96mph but I had 90mph rides on daily basis.
I really never had it dialed in with the right prop and could used a 1”
drive adapter.
We had a lot of great rides with the boat and had some races to.
I think I had 2500 nautic miles total with this boat. Pleasure and races.
In dyno we had 875hp@5700rpm and torque 1310nm/4000rpm.
Pulled the engine last year and sold the boat less engine this year.

step 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2010, the engine torn down. Decked the block 0.1mm, the stock heads needed 0.3mm. New ring’s, mains, valve job etc.
New rods from Auto Verdi (may some Nascar fan’s here know’s Verdi dry sump pumps?) Well, Stefan Verdi is a very special guy and know’s his stuff.
New main caps from Pro Gram in Ohio (delivery time as the german people learned during the WW2 when they ordred the first gen1 VW beetle..)
Modified the EFI intake for new bigger injectors. A new Autronic SM4MR ECU.
A new adapter unit between the new screw and super chiller, design WMDC (my good friend and board member Tomas Wallin).
The new charger is one of the first 4 4.2L screw from HPS SuperchargersAB.
We will also go with one coil per cylinder. I know it’s A new cam on it’s way over the pod. It’s many more details of course.

Don’t mind the old black block with tiny oil pan. Johnny just use it as a “jig“ when he working with the top parts.

When I write “we” it’s Johnny. I don’t do a sh*t more than open the leather…

Maybe I can use a hull too.. :D

If somebody finds this interesting I’m happy to do some updates in this thread during the process..

Mange

That's a cool setup Mange! Definitely keep us updated! What are you using to drive the coil on plug system? Thanks. :coolcowboy:

Short deck...? It's a 10.200" tall deck :)

Back4More 10-28-2010 03:33 PM

You are correct...

25534368 - Sportsman Tall Deck Bow Tie Gen VI, 10.200” Deck Height

Dam, I thought those were short decks...sorry.
