Impeller Replacement on 496 HO
I need to replace the impeller in my 2005 Baja w/ 496 HO. From previous threads and talking with mechanics it appears the fuel pump needs to come off first. Information on this is limited. The Merc service manual does look like what is in my boat. I don't mind spending the time but I don't want to go at it blind. If anyone can provide some insight I would greatly appreciate it.

No need to remove the fuel pump.
Like Paul says, take the entire bracket (#14) off. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...=Seawater+Pump Taking the WP housing off with the pump still attached to the motor is a PIA. My boat allowed pretty good access too. But, it was still hard to remove. |
Outlaw Mike,
Rookie has an excellant article on rebuilding his pumps, see the link below. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/d...fuel-pump.html |
