boat with twins how hard is it to work on
 

looking at a new boat, its a zr donzi with twins. They are not staggered so looking at the pictures of the motor. It looks almost impossible to get even to the spark plugs with out pulling a motor out. Anyways anyone work on twins like this?

It can be a challange. You find ways to get into the middle and sides and what tools you need to grab and it starts to get easier. Some boats are MUCH harder then others. My Formula 302 is easy, my 311 is a nighmare!

Depends on the person too. Many say the 32 Fevers are a nightmare, but I have zero problems working on mine.

Its bad enough that I have decided my next boat will only be a single, and being able to access the engine is a big reason why. If I ever get another boat with twins it will be when I can afford to get a big enough boat to have staggered engines.

On boats that have room in front of the engines its not too bad, but on some it can be darn near impossible to do anything

Formula 382 is tough, add the generator and waste tank puts it a nightmare. Maybe before you buy a boat you may want to jump in and actually try changing out raw water impeller or getting to oil pressure sensor. The only thing that has gone favorable is changing out the secondary fuel filter that is accessible thru back storage hatch. Donzi triple is a reverse triple (single engine is in the back). The side by side 's are just a bit easier, but not much. At least it is rather easy to remove the exhaust extensions (not the headers). I have seen my friend jump into his stagger 38 ZR and that seems to be the way to go!! I have changed every raw water impeller and it is a real treat doing the back on the Donzi because you can see what you are doing and you can position yourself to work comfortably with both hands.

Prostock3, you must be looking at a 35? The other thing that you should double check is the head room in the cabin and probably sit on the toilet (probably drink a few beers, sit on the toilet with your pants down ... after you fall out of the head a few times with your pants half down, the Cig with the toity in the cabin really starts to make sense).

My 382 is tight but managable, no gen or waste tank. It does take some flexability to reach certian parts for repairrs & service.

I said MY boat, not yours. Fix your leak and you won't need to replace the pump. :party-smiley-004::drink:

we had a 30 sutphen Ocean acer and you had to be a russian contortionist to change anything on that boat.LOL

I now have an OB boat and its very nice to work on my twins now.LOL

How hard is the rear seat to remove... it can make a world of difference when that is out of the way and you can attack everything from the front.
