Stripping Powdercoating
Whats the best way to strip powdercoating off of valve covers. Really don't want to have them sandblasted. Anybody have any luck with paint stripper?

I've used acetone with excellant results. Make a tray and let them soak a few minutes, the PC will peel off in sheets.
Some PC's don't come off this way, the ones I've done happened to. If you have any PVC pipe cleaner laying around, test a small are to check. |
B-17 stripper is what I use to strip stuff that is powder coated already before I repowdercoat them. However it is very strong and you have to use big rubber gloves, if it so much as touches your skin it will burn you right away. Also its alittle pricey if you are just using it for the valve covers, 5 gal. lasts along time though
