Chevy 350 dipstick
 

I need to replace the dipsticks on my 1976 chevy small blocks. The ones I have now were made by the engine builder but they are leaking so I need to replace them. I can't seem to find anything that fits though. They are either too short and wont reach above the valve covers or they wont fit between the valve covers and the exhaust.

What are everyone else with old small blocks using?

Other than what MerCruiser put out...the dipstick the Volvo puts on SBChevy's will fit anything. Find a Volvo version and you should have a fit.

Mercruiser dipsticks don't fit together with my Imco powerflow exhaust.

i ran into the same problem with a 400 i just put in mine. i had to get a dipstick off an old omc 350 which actually comes out of the drain in the oil pan. it worked great and i connected it to a exhaust bolt on stainless marine manifolds.

it connects on the outside of the manifold. just have to make a new "full" mark for your oil level.
