Hydraulic Helm

Would like to add hydraulic to the help while boat is out of comission this summer. I have the Imco transom parts already, but want to convert to a full system.

What do i need at the helm? I know the part(s) doesnt have to come from Imco, Latham, etc, but not sure exactly whats required.

Char-Lynn Closed center, non-load reaction steering valve. There is one on ebay 9.7 cu.in./rev new for $100

Do you want manual steering or power steering?

BDiggity 06-24-2011 10:37 PM

ken- i saw your post in another thread but wasnt sure if thats what i needed.

B, If you wanted to go manual, you'd need a different helm. Hynautic or Capillano. Capillano is cool because it's adjustable displacement, so you can adjust if you want low effort or higher response.

If you can get the Char Lynn or Eaton model number off of it you can just Google it or look it up here.

The one I have was on a Arneson ASD-8 boat so they are usally rated higher than the adverage. steering cylinders are about 3" dia.
