If you are lookinf to just step up to a larger prop shaft, I believe there is a kit that allows it to be replaced without even removing the lower unti from the boat. It includes a billet bearing carrier and the larger shaft. I saw the ad in a recent issue of either Poweboat or Performance Boat. If I find it I will post the info...

Found It: Performance Boat July 2011 (Off-Shore Edition) in the "New Products" Section, page 65.

Prop Shaft Conversion Kit

"Are you tired of breaking 1" prop shafts? The time has come to change to the big shaft for the right price. This conversion kit has all the parts that you will need to change your Bravo One, 1" prop shaft to a 1-1/4" prop shaft using your gear set. You don't need to buy a new gear set - in most cases, you can install this kit without removing the drive or taking the lower case apart. This kit comes complete with conversion shaft and carrier kit. For more information, contact Keith Eickert Performance Products by calling (386) 446-0660 or visit keitheickert.com"

I would certainly go through the entire drive if you were replacing the prop shaft......but I also think it's a waste of time.

Nearly every busted regular bravo I'm aware of blew the upper, not the lower. I even have a couple buddies that upgraded regular bravos by simply buying XR uppers and using the regular lower...small prop shaft and all.
