bolting 454 to transom plate
I have a picture of the transom plate assembly from BAM that corresponds with my setup; Gen 4 big block, Bravo 1 drive. To bolt the bellhousing to the engine you have a pair of 5.25" bolts, a washer, a spacer, a fabric washer, a lock washer on steroids, and finally a nut.
First - do I understand the sequence, it goes like this: bolt, washer, spacer above the bellhousing - fabric washer and lock washer between the bellhousing and transom plate - nut below. Second, I have already installed the engine without the fabric washer and lock washer sandwiched between the bellhousing and transom plate. Do I need to pull the drive and realign it or can I just lift one side at a time and squeeze the washers in place - bottom line is it going to mess up my drive alignment? Thanks for the help. Work in process since March 2007 and we hope to see water for the first time in 4 years, Labor Day 2011? |

Here is a link with a diagram of the assembly order. You have to scroll down a few posts to get to the diagram. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=325938 |

Just helped my friend do his the other day. We hoisted the back of the motor and put the fiber washer and spring lock in. The motor will have to be aligned after that for sure.

Appreciate the help. I will pull the drive and do it right.
