I had an old Toyota tercel in college that had a cracked block, it was slowly loosing compression in 2 cylinders and eventually it got so bad the car would not run at all. Being the broke student that I was I decided the best way to regain lost compression was to super charge it!

I had an old John Deer commercial leaf blower, and a few cases of beer, and this was the result. At WOLBT (Wide open leaf blower Throttle ;) ) the boost gauge showed about 1 psi at idle and it was more than enough to bring the old girl back to life. After it was plumbed with duct tape and exhaust hose, we ratchet strapped it to the intake manifold, and "clearanced" the hood for a factory fit and finish.

My wonderful friends even decided to give it a spectacular custom graphics job one day when I was in class, all you paint and vinyl guys ain't got nothin' on this custom work.

There is a video of 2 wheel driving practice, and the resulting roll - over somewhere on you-tube... I'll try to find it.

Just an fine example of beer fueled American ingenuity :drink:

O.K. All the foolishness aside. Didn't Mad Max drive around in a
supercharged "police interceptor" with an electric supercharger? I seem
to remember that Max would drive around in "NA mode" then when
he had to "giddy up" he hit a toggle switch and the blower started?
This is in the original movie not Thunderdome. Anyone know the
specifics of his car's engine?

if i remember correctly mad maxs car had electric clutch on the pulley on the supercharger similar to an ac compressor
i always wondered if that was movie stuff or if it would work how could the engine get air without the rotors spinning?
maybe a blower bypass system
