Transmission levers a bit stiff

Hey guys,

The inside transmission lever is a little stiff and the other is better, but not by much. I'd really love to have those both moving much more smoothly with less effort. Do I need to lubricate the cables or something? If so, how do I do that? Is there another issue?

Thanks!

Most likely water intrusion / corrosion. Best bet is to replace them. I had to do mine. Now I'm having issues with the trim indicator cables for the same reason.

Check and see if there is anywhere along the cable, where it might be kinked or squeesed flat ect. If so, replace them. First thing you can do, is to disconnect them from your drive and see how loose they are, do the same at the shifter. That way you can pin point and see if it is indeed cable related, or the problem is in the drive or shifter. As said already. If it is a cable issue, replace them. If they have corrosion in them, kinks ect. it's only a matter of a short time before they stick again if you try to fix them.

First thing to do is find out where they are stiff/binding.
There is a cable from the each shifter to each engine and then a lower cable that goes to each drive.
Then there is a ball and detent assembly behind the rear cover on the drive.
The problem could be any of the cables or the ball detent assembly.
